The IRSS Election Process
IRSS Executive Board Nominations
The IRSS Executive Board (EB) has 8 elected members, namely, 4 Council members (President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary), Advisory Board (AB) Chair, Advisory Board (AB) Vice Chair, IRSS Webpage Editor, and IRSS Bulletin Editor. The newly elected IRSS Council appoints a Chair of the IRSS Steering Committee (SC). In 2009, the IRSS elects a new EB that begins its work in 2010.
Call-for-nominations for 2010 IRSS EB
All nominations for four (4) IRSS Council positions must
satisfy the region rotation rule described in Sect. 9.4 of the
Constitution. In 2010, the IRSS Council moves to EMEA (Europe, Middle
East, and Africa) and all nominees for the 2010 IRSS Council should be
Individual Members who reside in the EMEA region.
Any Individual Member from any region of the world is eligible to be a
candidate for one of the following positions: Chair of the IRSS Advisory
Board, or Editor of the IRSS Web Page, or Editor of the IRSS Bulletin.
The nominations shall be sent by email, using the provided PDF fillable form to Prof. Yiyu Yao, Chair of the IRSS Steering Committee at yyao@cs.uregina.ca.
The deadline for nominations is August 15, 2009
According to Sect. 4.1 of the IRSS Bylaws IRSS election is carried out in the following manner:
- After the nominations for IRSS offices has been completed, the SC Chair posts the completed list of IRSS nominations on the IRSS webpage.
- The IRSS President calls for voting based on the IRSS nominations.
- The IRSS President posts the results of the election on the IRSS web page, and in the Bulletin of the IRSS.
Steps 1-3 are repeated until a simple majority of the eligible voters elects the IRSS officers.
